Lake Škale
The first of the Šalek Lakes was Lake Škale, which began to form before World War II, but was immediately after only half of its size today. Its shape is final, as the excavation of lignite in this part of the valley is finished. Since it formed as the consequence of the initial, less intensive excavation in the Šalek Valley, it is the smallest of the three lakes (in the size of 16 hectares, with less than millions of cubic meters of water). It is surrounded by footpaths that the locals love to use for an evening walk or a run.
